Award Winning Director Henderson Maddox will be casting for his next film Products of the American Ghetto on August 27, 2011. Products is a story that depicts the life of a young boy, Brian, who wants out but the only images of success that he see's are the drug dealers around him. Yes he knows about doctors and lawyers, however where he is from he is taught that those are not options that are easily attainable. He's told by teachers that he can't go to college, He's told my adults that, "where you are is where you will be and its your place." Brian, the main character results to joining the drug game to find his way out the urban lifestyle. Film Stars Emmy Award Winning Greg Alan Williams.
Character Breakdown:
We are casting for the following roles:
YOUNG BRIAN- 13 years old, african american male Brian is a young boy that dreams big but is stuck in an environment in which there are limited options to succeed. His mother sells her body to take care of the family and Brian knows he has to do something for this to end. He finds refuge in that street life and sees its the only way for him to save his mother and family. He wants to grow up to be like the only successful man he has been exposed to, Easy, Atlanta's biggest drug dealer.
YOUNG NATE - 13-15 years old, African American male best friend of Brian. Nate is one of the roughest 13 year olds you will find. He is a product of his environment just as tuff as the run down brick building he calls home. He is Brian's left hand and he to also wants a way out, joining Brian as a young street hustler.
ERIC- 13 year old, african american male friend of Brian. He does not leave in the projects but he is not far from the lifestyle. Coming from a low income christian based family. Eric is the timid one of the group always afraid he will get into trouble or caught in the wrong place hanging around the boys.
ADULT BRIAN- 19 year old, african american male he is a leader and successful drug hustler in his community developing into one of the best as he his lead by his mentors Easy and Jack.
ADULT NATE - 19 year old, african american male he is still by Brian's side. Still tough as a rock but charming. He is climbing the ladder along side his best friend in Atlanta drug game.
JACK- 50 years old, african american male, he is the original old G. He looks out for Brian and his friends and watches over them making sure they learn the game correctly.
SILK- 40's, african american male, Easy's childhood best friend. Loud attention hungry drug addict. Silk is also one of the top dealers in the city but suffers with a drug addiction that changes everything about him.
MS. JORDAN- 30 years old, african american male, brian's mom, stressed mother of four, she is a prostitute selling her body to keep food on the table. Her husband left her with nothing so she resulted to doing what she knows best to provide for her family. Heart broken by her son's decision to join the drug game but supports him fully.
TASHA- 16 years old, african american female, brian's older sister in which dropped out of high school to take care of the family. She is introduced to the prostitution world when her mother sells her to a man to keep the lights on. She has no choice but to fall in line. Brain's man motivation for joining the drug game so his sister does not have to sell herself.
TARYLL- 8 years old, african american female, brian's younger sister whom is confused by all the male visitors in her home. Brian's number one fan and also motivation.
BEAR- late 30's, african american male, Easy's body guard. He is a big man that takes no mess.
COWBOY- late 40's, one of the top drug dealers other than Easy. A poker friend of Easy. Cowboy has a very short temper when it comes to losing money which always does when playing Poker with Easy.
BEVERLY- late 30's, african american female, Nate's alcoholic mother.
JUDY- early 30's, african american female not Easy's wife but his number two girl.
BILL- 40's, Caucasian male, banker that visits Brian's mother frequently.
PASTOR POPPIN- late 40's to 50's, african american male, Pastor of local church who visits Brian's mother often as well as rapes Brian's sister.
PENNY- late 40's, african american, Easy's beautiful wife.
REID - 18 year old, african american male, he is jealous of Brian.
ROD- 20 year old, nephew of Silk,
ROSE - early 20's, african american female, Easy's baby sister. She is the finest girl in the projects.
SHIRLEY- early 50's, african american female, the cook at Jack's pool hall always takes care of Brian and Nate whenever they are around. (read lines for Penny)
STAR- 16 year old, african american, fast promiscuous, she comes from a line of prostitutes and is on track to follow in her mother and aunts footsteps. She is in love with Brian even though she is 3 years younger. (audition with line for Tasha)
