The NWA Georgia Heavyweight title tournament filled
with a rapid pace. The original 32 man tournament will now have wildcard
matches to get the last few remaining spots into the tournament. The tournament
will have familiar names from the Georgia scene as well as new comers to the
Georgia wrestling scene. 3 names new to NWA- Atlanta fans, but not the Georgia
wrestling scene are Frankie Valentine, Brad Lynch, and Grant Mitchell. Frankie
Valentine has been a long time stand out performer on the Georgia Wrestling
scene for several years now and is regarded as one of the best all around
performers on the scene today. Grant Mitchell and Brad lynch, also known as “the
So Fine Mafia” are the most successful and dominant tag team ever in the UIW,
but how will they fair in NWA- Atlanta? All three will be competing in the
tournament for a chance at the NWA Georgia Heavyweight title.
The UIW’s controversial
Stan Robinson will be making his NWA- Atlanta officiating debut during
the NWA Georgia Heavyweight title tournament.
At this point it could literally be anyone’s
tournament for the taking. Who is the favorite? Here is the reader’s digest
version of certain wrestlers and their chances:
AJ Steele: He never got pinned to lose his
NWA- Atlanta title. He is coming off a strong win over the Barbarian, and he did
the fans of NWA- Atlanta a huge favor by getting rid of Prince Akbar.
Andy Anderson: He retired the NWA- Atlanta
title as its last champion with a strong victory over Abdul Qadeer/ Tyson Dean.
Tyson Dean: He was able to fool everyone,
steal the belt from Steele, and even though he lost to Anderson in the last
ever NWA- Atlanta Heavyweight title match, he left Anderson laid out in the middle
of the ring after the match.
Rick Michaels: Rick actually held a version
of this title way back when. Can the seasoned vet pull off an upset? If Simon Sermon,
Bobby Hayes, and Matt Sells have anything to do with it, then No. All three are
also in the tournament.
Pain & Bill the Butcher: These two are
coming off big showings at “Bash at the Bridge”. Bill beat the most controversial
character in Pro Wrestling, Zombie Rick Rude. Pain took the Tokyo Monster (NWA
North American Champion) to a draw/ no contest.
Drew Adler: Drew maybe the Dark Horse. He is
young, but at 6’4 and 230lbs with the quickness and grace of a cat he has the
all the tools to pull it out. There is a reason why he is the #1 prospect in
all of Georgia.
