SAG Short Film - Encuéntrate is a film about a young lawyer, Anaïs, who alienates herself from her family and her culture because of issues she thinks she has with her mother. The death of her grandfather brings her face to face with everything she ran away from, teaching her the importance and strength of faith, family, forgiveness and most importantly-love.
Character Breakdown:
Grandfather - Spanish of darker complexion late 60s. (will be aged to 80s with make-up). He raised Anaïs and her brother after his daughter left them with him at an early age. He means the world to Anaïs and has been a spiritual force in her life.
George - Caucasian or AA male late 20s-mid 30s (Anaïs’s gay legal secretary) for quite some time. He understands Anaïs and her somewhat aggressive approach and tries to lighten the environment with jokes. (the comedic relief)
Josh – Caucasian male late 40s – mid 50s - Anaïs’s boss and a partner in the firm.
Ryan – Caucasian or African American male in his 30’s- speaks some Spanish. He is an attorney at same firm as Anaïs. He has interest in Anaïs, but she doesn’t give him the time of day.
Tia (Aunt) – Spanish female in her mid-late 50’s. She helped raise Anaïs and absolutely adores her. She helped her father keep a secret from Anaïs and her brother. She has great faith that God will assist in mending the division in the family.
Junior – Hispanic male or can pass for Hispanic male/mixed ancestry. Late 20s - early 30s. Junior and Anaïs’s haven’t seen each other in 6 years. He was extremely close to his sister until she turned her back on the family.
Attorney Joe – Caucasian or AA male in his 40s. He represents a client in a divorce case.
Young Anaïs – Hispanic female or can play Hispanic female/mixed ancestry, 7-9 years old. Appears in the flashback scenes interacting with her grandfather and a heart wrenching moment when her mother leaves.
Young Junior – Hispanic male or can play Hispanic male/mixed ancestry, 4-6 years old. Appears in flashback scene when the mother leaves him and his sister in the care of the grandfather.
Wife –Hispanic female in her early 40s who is going through a divorce as a result of her adultery
Husband - Caucasian male in his 40s. He is represented by Anaïs in his divorce case.
Mediator - Caucasian male in his 30s. He is trying to help the wife and husband come to a mutual agreement on the terms of divorce without having to go to court.
Little Anaïs– Hispanic female, 4yrs old. Bubbly, full of life and an only grandchild. Junior’s daughter
Caridad – Hispanic female late 20s – early 30s. Wife of Junior
Ricardo – Spanish male late 30s-early 40s. Anais’s stepfather. Appears in flashback scene being shot by law enforcement.
Detective 1 – AA or Caucasian male mid-30s-late 40s. Appears in flashback scene interrogating Anais’s mother.
Detective 2 – Spanish or AA female mid-late 30s. Appears in flashback scene interrogating Anais’s mother.
Attorney – Caucasian male mid 40s-mid 50s. Appears in flashback scene representing Anais’ mother during interrogation.
